Tok is located on the Alaska Highway 93 miles from the Canadian border. It is 328 driving miles from Anchorage, 254 miles from Valdez and 206 miles from Fairbanks. Tok is a center for dog breeding, training and mushing. It is the only town in Alaska that the highway traveler must pass through twice, once when arriving in the state and again when leaving the state. Tok services include restaurants, gas stations and auto repair, gift shops, sporting goods store, liquor store and car washes.
Attractions include the Tok Mainstreet Visitor's Center, shops with Alaskan crafts, and Mukluk Land, which includes an indoor-outdoor museum, miniature golf, activities for kids, and videos. Enjoy 13 miles of paved bike trails along the Alaska Highway and a 2.4 mile bike trail along the Tok-Cutoff. There are also several fishing lakes along the Alaska Highway between Tok and Delta Junction. In May, the Upper Tanana Valley Migratory Bird Festival is held at Tok Memorial Park. The event includes bird banding demonstrations and live bird presentations.
